Share

那个从“No.”变成“On.”

English
Cosmic Echo is a 60-card art deck in Simplified Chinese, created from my original artwork.
Before it became a deck, it began as a series of inner images: whales moving through the deep sea, a white horse crossing starlight, an astronaut looking into the distance, and moons rising over different nights.
These images returned again and again in my work. At first, I did not know where they were leading. I simply kept painting feelings that were difficult to explain in words: belonging and boundaries, rest and movement, seeing and creating, losing gravity and finding my footing again.
Only later did I realize that these were not isolated pictures. They were slowly becoming a universe that someone could hold in their hands and bring into everyday life.
The world gave me so much, and I wanted to answer through creation
The world has given me light, color, and moments of unexpected understanding. I gathered them through painting until, one day, they grew into a deck of cards.
For me, making art is a way of giving thanks.
Cosmic Echo was never intended to provide fixed answers or predict what will happen next. It is closer to a keepsake: proof that the world once passed through my life gently, and that through these paintings I might pass gently through someone else’s life too.
From individual paintings to a work you can live with
Images alone were not enough. I hoped people could do more than collect them; I wanted the cards to become something they could spend time with.
The 60 artworks were organized into 12 connected themes. Alongside each image is a short text and an invitation to keep looking, writing, or creating.
You may simply look at one painting, read one sentence, write down your first association, or follow the image with an ordinary pen and draw another line. There is no single correct interpretation. The image opens a door; you are the one who steps through it.
Hand-drawn images and the tools behind them
I drew every image in the deck by hand on an iPad using Procreate. The digital medium allowed me to retain the flow, transparency, and open space of watercolor while continually refining the relationship between light and color.
I also used AI as a thinking and proofreading tool while organizing the writing and overall structure. It helped me clarify language and check the framework, but it could not replace the parts that truly shape the work: what I have lived through, why an image moves me, how I choose a color, and what I finally decide to leave on the page.
The heart of a work is never the tool. It is what the artist has genuinely lived and is willing to offer.
The accident that changed “No.” into “On.”
During printing, a small accident occurred: “No.”, intended to mark the card number, was printed as “On.”
At first it looked like an error. But when I saw the word again, it felt unexpectedly true to the deck. “On” suggests opening, connection, and being present now.
I chose to keep it. It reminds me that a work is not truly complete when it leaves the printer, but when someone opens it, sees it, and allows it into their life.
In the end, it is a mirror
I hope Cosmic Echo can become a small patch of starlight on your desk.
You do not need to use it every day or follow any fixed rule. Perhaps on a rushed morning, or an evening without an answer, you pause to look at one image, read one sentence, and listen to what you truly want to say.
The cards will not choose a direction for you. They are a mirror, giving the feelings, questions, and quiet light already within you a visible shape.
This is the echo I wanted to send into the world.
